The pre-release version of Minecraft 1.7.3 is available for all Macintosh gamers running OS X Lion or newer. The most notable addition in this update is the Twitch broadcasting system demoed at Minecon.

According to the official announcement posted on Mojang’s site, Minecraft 1.7.3 Final will be pushed next week, but only if there are no major bugs left to squash.

The company then proceeds to outline “the most notable changes in 1.7.3 compared to 1.7.2,” starting with integrated Twitch broadcasting, a new feature that allows you to stream your gameplay (thanks to a partnership with Twitch).

The update further fixes render distances above 8 (something that may not work in multiplayer, according to the developers), and brings many “bug fixes and optimizations.”

Players looking to enjoy the new Twitch feature will be required to visit their Mojang account settings and link a Twitch account to their Minecraft account. Also worth noting is that the feature is only supported on systems running OS X Lion (10.7). Download Minecraft for Mac OS X and enjoy!
