Microsoft Tag 5.7 is out with full iPhone 5 support, Facebook ties (via tighter integration with iOS 6) and the usual bag of fixes for all iDevice owners running iOS 4.3 or later.

Microsoft Tag is not exactly a Passbook rival although it does let you connect to a slew of information on the Internet. It reads Microsoft Tag barcodes and QR codes, and can scan a 2D barcode on all types of surfaces.

“Tag recognition technology transforms traditional marketing, such as print advertising, billboards, packaging and LCD displays, into live links that immediately access info, videos and other materials online… no typing required,” according to its creators.

Microsoft Tag 5.7 adds full support for the elongated display of the iPhone 5, native Facebook integration under iOS 6, and a few unnamed bug fixes that are sure to improve your tagging experience. The app only requires iOS 4.3 to run.
