Internet service provider (ISP) FreedomPop has announced plans to sell iPhone 5 and iPhone 4 with a free monthly plan that includes 200 voice minutes, 500 text messages, and 500 MB of data. The company has just rolled out a Free Voice and Text companion app.

The firm’s business plan basically revolves around providing a limited amount of data to users for free, or versus a small fee for higher capacity plans. Additional data can be purchased on a pay-as-you-go model (per megabyte), and the company even allows users to trade unused data capacity with others.

FreedomPop also commercializes wireless accessories, per-minute and per-text overage charges on the voice service, virus protection, usage alerts, and other paid add-on services.

“With the launch of its new iOS app, FreedomPop allows any iPhone user stuck in an existing contract to save hundreds of dollars per year by downgrading their voice plans and leveraging FreedomPop’s free voice and text service directly from their existing phone,” the company announced.

“Today, any iPhone, iPad or iPod user can download FreedomPop’s new communication app, which provides free calls, texts and voicemail. Customers also have the option to port their existing number to FreedomPop or select a new one.”

Users who take up the service will see their account replenished every month with voice minutes and texts, for free. Download FreedomPop Free Voice and Text from the App Store now.
