Apple today is offering Epson Printer Drivers v2.16 for download onto OS X computers running OS X 10.6 or later.

According to a Support document on Apple’s web site, Epson Printer Drivers v2.16 for OS X is a free update that “installs the latest software for your EPSON printer or scanner.”

The Cupertino giant doesn’t mention any specific device models, but it does offer a reference link where hundreds of Epson scanners and printers are listed as being supported in OS X.

If you have a brand new Epson device hooked up to your Mac and it doesn’t communicate well with the computer, it’s a good idea to download Epson Printer Drivers v2.16 for OS X. Just bear in mind that the disk image is obscenely large (over 1GB in size).

System requirements include OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard), OS X 10.7 (Lion), and OS X 10.8 (Mountain Lion). Apparently this update is not meant for Mavericks users.

Supported languages include German, English, French, Spanish, Dutch, Danish, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Chinese, and others.
