MoboTap Inc. has announced a new version of Dolphin Browser, the free web browser for iPhone and iPad available in the Apple App Store.

Dolphin Browser 4.2 is the latest version of MoboTap’s popular iOS app, bringing “high definition” visuals or Retina display support. This enhancement is specifically aimed at iPad users “for a sleeker browsing experience,” says MoboTap.

The second enhancement is the ability to have your last used keyboard layout reopened when you fire up the app. The reason? “Fewer switches,” says the developer. The past sites and searches are now shown in a suggestion list while searching in URL bar.

For iPhone and iPod touch customers, previously opened tabs are restored if Dolphin is shut down while running in background. Finally, version 4.2 brings various stability and performance improvements.
