St. Clair Software has released Default Folder X 4.5, an update to the company’s flagship Mac app that attaches a toolbar to the right side of the Open and Save dialogs in any OS X-native application.
Version 4.5 makes sure that Open and Save default to the last folder you used, correcting a major complaint from users on OS X 10.7 and 10.8, according to the developer.
OS X 10.8.2 is also fully compatible now, and the program supports Apple's new Retina display in some 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Pros released this year.
Over a dozen issues are fixed in this release, but a known problem still lingers. It’s present only on systems that have Parallels Desktop installed, so whoever fits the profile can pay St. Clair a visit to see what it’s all about. It’ll probably get fixed in the next incremental release which shouldn’t be too far off.
