Looking for a solution to create new documents with two clicks, just like on Windows? Look no further than Alfred Danny’s New File application, now free to download from the Mac App Store.

Apple’s Mac operating system has always been crippled from a certain standpoint: users don’t have an immediate right-click option to create a new text file. But thanks to simple utilities like Alfred Danny’s New File app, now they do.

Available as a free download from the Mac App Store (for a limited time), New File installs a handy menubar tool which you click once to display your options, then select which type of file you want created. Easy as pie.

Unsurprisingly, New File doesn’t have strict requirements and runs on any Mac with OS X 10.7 (Lion) or newer installed. Download New File for your Mac and start being more productive today.

Alfred has a note for users, in case things don’t work as expected.

“Note: In case that the ‘New File’ menu item does not appear in the Finder context menu, please relaunch New File and then try again. In some OS X versions, you may need to logout and then login again to make the services being updated. Please also make sure that the ‘New File’ service is enabled in ‘System Preferences -> Keyboard -> Services’.”
