20V charger may not be exactly healthy for your iDevice

Battery life is one of the most pressing issues involving our electronics today, not just smartphones, but computers too, and everything in between. At least for your pocket computer, there now seems to be a solution that enables juicing up in less time than ever before.

It’s called the ibattz ASAP Charger and it’s essentially a handsome 20V / 2A portable battery pack that can charge your dying handset to 100% in just a quarter of an hour. You can’t even get bored in that amount of time!

Normally, iPhones come with 5V / 1A chargers, which begs the question: is this new thing from ibattz safe for our iPhones? One way the company could prove this would be to get an MFi (Made for iPhone) from Apple. Sadly, they’re not even featuring it on the ibattz.com site, because they’re probably too busy showing it off at CES 2015 right now.

Word has it that there will be two variations to choose from, one packing 5,600 mAh of charging power, the other going as high as 11,200 mAh.

No pricing details are available, and no one knows when this thing hits the market either. You can expect it to exceed $100 (€80) in the low configuration, and well beyond that in the high-end version. One thing is for sure, though: it looks killer, and the touted capabilities are enough to sell any iPhone user on this product.
