With the iPad 3 expected to arrive next week (or at least to be announced next week), Best Buy is selling its remaining iPad 2 units at a $50 discount in the United States.

The move isn’t by far surprising, and it’s not the first time either. In fact, Best Buy’s price cut can even be regarded as an indicator that the retailer is on track to receive volume shipments of iPad 3 tablets in the coming weeks.

Customers can now buy a current-generation Apple iPad for just $449 from Best Buy, which stocks both the Black and the White version of the tablet computer. The price is of course for the base model with no 3G wireless and 16 gigs of on-board Flash storage.

As reported earlier, Apple is widely rumored to hold a March 7 event for the unveiling of the iPad 3.
