Playing the role of Apple’s co-founder in a biopic by Mark Hulme of Five Star, actor Ashton Kutcher was invited on the Tonight Show this week, where he admitted to Jay Leno that he had missed an opportunity to meet Jobs.

Kutcher regards Steve Jobs as “the Leonardo da Vinci of our generation.” In the short clip embedded above, an emotional Kutcher recalls how he felt when he heard Jobs had passed away.

“For me, I’ll never forget the moment I heard that he had died. I pulled my car to the side of the road and took a moment […] and I got home and realized that all the relationships I have in my life are held together by glue that he laid down,” Kutcher says, referring to his Mac and iPhone.

Kutcher, who resembles the young Steve Jobs in appearance, is a sworn fan of the Apple co-founder. In a recent Quora thread he admitted to being terrified by the idea of playing the part of Steve Jobs in the biopic set to hit cinemas next month.

But he pulled himself together and decided he’d do it. Why? As he puts it in his interview with Leno, “…I wanted to ensure that his legacy was told from someone who admired him.”

The clip above also includes a scene from the movie (one that hasn’t been shown before to my knowledge). If you’re a fan of Jobs, you’ll want to hit play.
