14 DAY TRIAL // After announcing his retirement followed by a swift change of heart to remain on board, Bob Mansfield is now Apple's senior vice president of Technologies, reporting to CEO Tim Cook.
Mansfield’s initial plans were to leave Apple, according to a June 28 announcement on Apple’s website. Two months later, the Cupertino giant confirmed that Mansfield had retracted his decision to part with the company.
Sources said CEO Tim Cook had offered him an exorbitant salary to stay on board to “work on future products.”
Today, Mansfield is head of Technologies, a new department “which combines all of Apple’s wireless teams across the company in one organization, fostering innovation in this area at an even higher level.”
The newly formed group will also include the semiconductor teams, Apple said, “who have ambitious plans for the future.”
