Apple has released an updated KB article to outline that customers needn’t register their products with the company for regular service and support.

A tech note titled “Do I need to register my Apple product?” has been updated by Apple to remind customers that registering products is not required for service and support.

According to the knowledge-base article, “Service and support for your Apple product are linked to its serial number, which can be located on the device.”

“If you'd like to check the service and support coverage for your Apple mobile device or computer, visit our Check Your Service and Support Coverage page.”

Otherwise, you won’t need to register anything with Apple. However, the company does note that customers who’ve purchased an AppleCare Protection Plan that hasn’t been enrolled yet does require registration.
