One source says the partnership isn’t new at all, but the tidbit is juicy

A report from Marketingmagazine says Apple has begun working with Foster + Partners on the designs of its iconic retail stores. Foster + Partners is the architecture company contracted by Steve Jobs to build Apple’s upcoming “spaceship” campus.

Sources close to the Apple Campus 2 project told the magazine that “Foster + Partners, which has designed buildings including the McLaren Technology Centre and Hearst Tower in New York, is helping Apple on the retail store design brief.”

A spokeswoman for Foster + Partners wouldn’t confirm the rumor, and reportedly said, “Any project for Apple is confidential and therefore we are unable to comment.”

However, a reliable source tells 9to5mac that Apple and Foster + Partners have actually been working together for a few years now, with a specific focus on retail stores.

We’re filing this one in the “move along” drawer of DOA rumors.
