Apple has updated its Apple Store application for iPhone and iPad, allowing users outside the United States to buy Passbook-enabled gift cards through the iOS app.

The functionality was previously restricted to the US, but now several other countries, including the United Kingdom, Canada, Italy and Australia, are also able to take advantage of this feature.

Users across the world are able to confirm that Apple indeed included the functionality with its updated Apple Store application, despite the fact that the release notes for this update state “various improvements and performance enhancements.”

You can download Apple Store free of charge and use it on any iOS 6-compatible iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad. The minimum requirement is iPhone 3GS. Supported languages include English, Dutch, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Simplified Chinese, Spanish, Swedish, and Traditional Chinese.
