Scheduled maintenance to upgrade "support systems"

A significant chunk of Apple’s Support site is down today as the company’s technicians are upgrading some of the web-based tools offered through support.apple.com.

Trying to access a knowledge base article through Apple’s Support site currently yields the following message from the Mac makers: “Due to a scheduled upgrade of Apple's support systems, some features of the website are currently unavailable.”

Apple is apologetic about it and offers a link to the Apple Support homepage. Customers must first select their country and then they can proceed to the start page of Apple Support.

Everything is still in place - video tutorials, manuals, documents with technical specifications, downloads and board discussions - with the exception of knowledge base articles.

In the past few months, Apple has carried out quite a bit of maintenance on its Support site, the most recent of which is documented here.
