Apple has released a new Podcasts application that does away with some of the skeuomorphic UI elements in favor of a cleaner, sleeker look. The updated version also delivers a truckload of new features and enhancements.

Podcasts 1.2 lets you create custom stations that update automatically with new episodes of your favorite shows, and you can now choose whether your stations begin playing with the newest or oldest unplayed episode.

Stations are now stored in iCloud, which means you’ll be up to speed on all your iCloud-connected devices, and you can now create an On-The-Go playlist with your own list of episodes.

iTunes-synced playlists now appear in the app, while the Now Playing view has been redesigned with brand new controls that should make playback easier to use.

An issue with playback resuming has been addressed, and several performance and stability improvements have been incorporated.
