Students in the US can now purchase Apple’s entry-level MacBook Pro for just $999. The discount is available across Europe as well, though it’s far less generous: €1,126.93.

The new price cut arrived in tandem with Apple’s release of a “budget” iPod touch, which costs less but also packs less features compared to the original.

Unlike the iPod touch, though, Apple’s $999/€1,126.93 MacBook Pro for education is identical to the standard MacBook Pro.

It ships with a 13-inch glossy display (non-Retina), a 2.5GHz dual-core Intel Core i5 processor (Turbo Boost up to 3.1GHz), 4GB of 1600MHz memory, a 500GB hard drive spinning at 5400-rpm, Intel HD Graphics 4000, and a 7-hour battery.

Visit Apple here if you’re interested in the offer. You can also configure the system to have more RAM, storage, extra hardware (peripherals), etc.
