Amazon commissions an army of over 400, says agency

According to a somewhat useless report by Bloomberg’s GlobalTech division, “Amazon Reps Are Taking Over CES, and Apple Is Practically Nowhere to Be Found.” Mainly because it doesn’t want to be found there, in case anyone needs a reminder.

The report in question claims that one reason why companies attend CES (the Consumer Electronics Show) every year is to “dazzle gadget fans," which is true. Many of these companies, however, also send in their representatives “to impress buyers from the biggest retailers and compete for prime real estate on store shelves,” the report states.

It then notes that Amazon has 400 people on the floor at CES, while Apple has only four, and then continues to offer a brief history of the two as if they somehow compare or compete for space at the Las Vegas trade show.

In reality, Apple has intentionally (and officially) pulled its presence from trade shows for nearly a decade, stating that it prefers its own showcases and retail stores. By no means is Apple at the mercy of retailers either. Any re-seller will walk on corpses to obtain the goods every year. Apple does little of the legwork, mind you. The comparison therefore makes little to no sense.

Also worth noting is that Apple’s four people at CES likely haven't been tasked with preaching. They’re probably there just to scout and mingle, for business purposes nonetheless.
