You’d think Apple maintains its precious online store for the sake of its own products, but you’d be wrong to believe that. In fact, accessory sales on store.apple.com seem to be booming.

But there’s one product in there that not everyone would expect to see. It’s a plant sensor, and it works with your iPhone or iPod touch to give off readings about a plant’s condition.

Priced at $59.95 / €59.95 in the US and EU, respectively, “Parrot Flower Power is a sensor that when ‘planted’ close to a plant in a pot or in open ground provides real-time measurements of the factors essential for healthy growth and then sends updates to the free app on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.”

“By keeping an eye on soil moisture, fertilizer, ambient temperature, and light intensity, you can provide just the right care to help your plants thrive,” the description reads.

Pretty cool, huh? Here’s the Parrot Flower Power app if you want to have a go at it.
