KB articles containing troubleshooting info about AirPort get “archived”

If you’re using one of Apple’s AirPort base stations with firmware version 7.5.2 on them and you’re having problems, there are a couple of Support documents on Apple’s site that might help out. Just don’t expect a follow-up from the mother-ship if they don’t.

Apple this weekend has archived a total of four KB articles tied to AirPort base stations and the various activities that can involve them, such as installing Firmware Update 7.5.2 (TS3433) or using IPv6 Tunneling (TS3522).

Another article talks about Macs that cannot connect to 802.11n-only Wi-Fi network after installing Mac OS X v10.6.5 Update (TS3590), and yet another one explains why some customers are unable to browse or join AirPort network after setup with Windows XP Service Pack 3 (TS4011).

All these troubleshooting guides are now labeled as “archived,” or over and done with, in layman’s terms. Apple’s exact wording on this is: “This article has been archived and is no longer updated by Apple.”

So whatever problems you may be experiencing involving one of these four scenarios, if you can’t find a solution in these KB articles, don’t expect a follow-up from Apple. Either try the solutions provided there over and over until they finally work, or upgrade your hardware and your firmware.
