Not targeted at 21.5-inch, Late 2009 configurations

A new software update is available from the company headquartered at 1 Infinite Loop, Cupertino, California addressing glitches with the graphics on iMac computers.

“This firmware update fixes a graphics issue that may cause an iMac to hang under certain conditions,” reads Apple’s tech note.

Apple doesn’t specify exactly what iMac models require the new software update, but the image used in the technical note describing iMac Graphic FW Update 3.0 depicts one of the newer models.

Software Update doesn’t yield this Graphic FW Update on 21.5-inch, Late 2009 machines. When the user attempts manual installation from the iMacGraphicsFWUpdate.pkg installer package, an alert pops up saying, “This software is not supported on your system.” Suffice to say Apple isn’t targeting this particular system configuration with iMac Graphic FW Update 3.0.
