Testers asked to continue focus on graphics, audio, Safari, Mail, USB sync in iTunes

A new Mavericks beta is available for download featuring the same set of focus areas as before and no known issues. OS X 10.9.3 doesn’t have a definitive launch date set, but it’s expected to roll out in the following weeks.

Following the successful launch of OS X 10.9.2 in February, Apple immediately began work on a third incremental update for Mavericks users, establishing a new set of focus areas for developers to test.

These include Graphics Drivers, Audio, the Safari web browser, the troublesome Mail application (which seems to be downright beleaguered), as well as Contacts & Calendar sync over USB in iTunes (a returning feature).

In usual fashion, Apple asks newcomers to be aware that the computer they use to test these betas should be ready for formatting at any given time. OS X 10.9.3 build 13D33 is no exception to the rule.

Deployed yesterday evening with the same set of focus areas as all 10.9.3 betas before it, build 13D33 comes with the following memo from Apple, according to a person who is familiar with the seed notes.

“Please be aware that you will not be able to revert back to your previous system after updating. Please install this update on a system you are prepared to erase if necessary.”

Developers who are downloading their first Mavericks beta are told to obtain the OS X Software Update Seed Configuration Utility first, then browse the Mac Dev Center for OS X 10.9.3. Alternately, the download can be done through the Mac App Store.

“If you have already installed the ‘OS X Software Update Seed Configuration Utility,’ choose ‘Software Update’ from the Apple menu,” Apple reportedly states.

Those who don’t have the utility installed yet must log into their developer account on the company’s developer portal, download OS X Software Update Seed Configuration Utility, run the installer and wait for the Mac App Store to open automatically.

At this point, all the developer has to do is click on the Updates panel and the latest version of OS X Mavericks 10.9.3 will be available for download.

“This build is being provided to you for testing and development purposes. Should you encounter any problems, please submit a bug report using the online Bug Reporter at bugreporter.apple.com,” the Mac maker adds.

Registered Apple Developers can visit developer.apple.com/downloads to see the latest available downloads, complete with the official seed notes accompanying the latest Mavericks beta.
