Apple has released AirPort Extreme and AirPort Time Capsule base stations Firmware 7.7.2, a free software update which addresses a number of issues reported by users.

Available via software update (not as a standalone installer), AirPort Firmware Update 7.7.2 “Addresses an issue that prevents a USB hard drive connected to an AirPort Extreme from appearing as an available disk in Time Machine,” according to Apple.

The update further patches an issue that may cause a loss in WAN connectivity and one that may cause a network loop. Users need AirPort Utility to install such firmware updates on their AirPort base station.

“Apple provides AirPort base station firmware updates periodically to improve performance and functionality. You should install the latest version of firmware for the best experience,”  the Cupertino giant states. You can also update your base station using the iOS version of AirPort Utility.
