Customers working with Apple’s Keynote productivity software to make presentations can employ a project from Microsoft PowerPoint or even from the old AppleWorks to use it in Keynote.

Apple says that if you already have a slide presentation that was originally created in Microsoft PowerPoint or AppleWorks, you can easily import the presentation into Keynote to continue your work on a Mac.

“As much as possible, Keynote preserves the original document’s text, colors, layout, and other formatting options,” according to Support document HT3355.

To import a PowerPoint or an AppleWorks document, choose File in Keynote, then Open. Use the dialog box to navigate to your presentation, select it and click Open.

An alternate (easier) way is also presented: “In the Finder, drag the PowerPoint or AppleWorks document icon to the Keynote application icon.” In other words, just drag and drop the file onto Apple Keynote.
