14 DAY TRIAL // An analysis of Apple’s OS X 10.9 install base reveals a few interesting tidbits regarding the early stages of the development process preceding the release of the first beta.
Like us, 9to5mac has been recording visits from OS X 10.9 systems located in or around the Cupertino area in California, where Apple is headquartered.
The site had enough data to quantify some aspects of the development process, including Adobe Flash testing, Java usage, sites visited, and the machines on which the software itself gets tested.
Apparently, Apple still uses 17-inch MacBook Pros to test beta (or even alpha) software internally. The company pulled 17-inchers from the market years ago. And most 10.9 visits seemed to arrive from Retina-enabled 15-inch MacBook Pros.
Apple is expected to release the first OS X 10.9 beta to developers shortly.
