Apple is building a new cafeteria for employees, the San Jose Mercury News reports. The dining room will have an area of 21,000 square feet and it will be restricted to Apple employees.

The initiative was confirmed by an Apple representative who told the paper, "We like to provide a level of security so that people and employees can feel comfortable talking about their business, their research and whatever project they're engineering without fear of competition sort of overhearing their conversations."

The cafeteria will include meeting rooms, lounges, a courtyard and, of course, a cafe, all of which will be open to Apple staffers on weekdays for breakfast and lunch.

Dan Whisenhunt, Apple's director of real estate facilities, added that "That is a real issue today in Cupertino because we've got other companies here in our same business."
