In confirming the 100 Million downloads achieved by its Mac App Store in less than a year, Apple also acknowledged that there are now over 500,000 applications to choose from on all Apple App Stores, including those for iPhone and iPad.

The company said it was proud to have “revolutionized the app industry with the App Store, which now has more than 500,000 apps and where customers have downloaded more than 18 billion apps and continue to download more than 1 billion apps per month.”

Unfortunately Apple was reluctant to note exactly how many titles are there in the Mac App Store alone, stating only that there “thousands of free and paid apps [to] … download and install them in just one step.”

Nonetheless, the company’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing, Philip Schiller, said that the 100 million downloads make the Mac App Store “the largest and fastest growing PC software store in the world.”
