Apple is reportedly planning to launch a TV device that relies on AirPlay and Siri, and features integration with the company’s entire range of iDevices, people briefed on the matter say.

The Apple blogosphere is abuzz with a report from the Wall Street Journal citing people familiar with the discussions between Apple executives and media executives at several large companies, on their vision for the future of television.

Those privy of said discussions reportedly learned that Apple’s next TV device would use AirPlay streaming technology to allow users to control it from their iPhones and iPads. The technology is currently available in the existing Apple TV set-top box. Apple is said to have tested “integrating DVR storage and iCloud” into its TV, and reportedly wants to offer a Hulu-like experience for consumers.

No other technical details are provided. It is yet unknown when Cupertino plans to start selling the device, nor is it clear whether Apple will sign deals with broadcast and cable agencies. The company may well change its plans, these people added.
