You know something’s up when a developer charges $1.99 / €1.89 for an app that allegedly suggests baby names for your newborn child. But we hear Awesome Baby Names is worth every penny.

According to those who’ve downloaded Awesome Baby Names from the App Store, Apple unknowingly approved what is essentially a full-featured GameBoy Advance emulator.

The Awesome Baby Names title and functionality were actually decoys to have the app pass the App Store’s net with flying colors. And it worked.

According to the people who discovered the gem, unlocking the emulator involves some secret button taps. Users also need to figure out how to get the ROMs (game files) inside the app’s directory, in order to actually run games.

It’s tricky business, but if you’re itching for a run of ‘90s-style pixelated gaming on your portable iOS supercomputer, go right ahead.

Note that since word is out, Apple will be nixing this one pretty quick. And quick is what you have to be if you want to get the app for your iDevice.
