Former MobileMe customers are about to be downgraded to the standard 5GB plan

Former MobileMe members who received a complimentary storage plan after moving to iCloud between October 12, 2011, and August 1, 2012 are being told to prepare for eviction.

That is, “on September 30, 2013, the complimentary iCloud storage plans will expire and will be automatically adjusted to the free 5 GB plan,” Apple says.

Those who have already purchased a storage plan won’t need to take any action, while those who would like to keep their current plans intact can follow a set of instructions outlined by Apple in Support document HT5527 (broken down by platform – iOS, Mac, Windows).

Users can even upgrade their current plans or downgrade their allowance. Do note that if the iCloud storage you're currently using exceeds the limit after September 30, things like iCloud Backup, Documents in the Cloud, and iCloud Mail will stop working temporarily.

To get them working again, you’ll either have to reduce the amount of iCloud storage that you’re using with other stuff (like photos), or buy a new storage plan outright.
