Amidst (shot-down) rumors that Apple could be unleashing a new army of 4-inch iPhones this year, we’ve learned that the company is indeed introducing a smaller version of something in 2015, but it’s definitely not small enough to fit in a pocket.

Replicating the cylindrical design of its Pudong (Shanghai) retail store, Apple is now opening a new circular-shaped store Chongqing (China): “The entrance is set in a plaza and surrounded by tall buildings, a setting similar to the Pudong store, but on a smaller scale,” according to people familiar with the development.

ifoAppleStore, which deals exclusively with information about Apple’s retail stores, reports that just last month workers started dismantling a huge steel structure that was used to cover the entrance for almost a full year. Apparently, it was already known that the 30-foot tall structure was going to be the entrance to a new Apple Store in the country. Entirely made from glass, the structure is highly reminiscent of the more famous Pudong store.

This is actually the third Apple store to open in the city. The Guotai Plaza store could open by summer, according to construction schedules. Apple currently has hundreds of stores worldwide, and constantly erects new ones in heavily populated locations.
