No word on the release of the next-generation iOS, or when OS X Yosemite will come out. However, that doesn't stop Apple from releasing small updates for their software. The latest one addressed a security problem with Safari for OS X.

Apple believes this was a real issue so they have released update for both Safari 7.0.6 for OS X Mavericks and Safari 6.1.6 for OS X Mountain Lion.

The tech giant explains how WebKit was considered vulnerable so if the user visited a maliciously crafter website, it might lead to an unexpected application termination or arbitrary code execution. The multiple memory corruption issues from WebKit have been patched by improved memory handling. Apple credits an anonymous researcher, the Google Chrome Security Team, and their own engineers for the discovery of this bug.

This security update is currently only available via the Mac App Store's Software Update menu. It should show up on the Apple security updates website later on today.

Talking about updates for the upcoming iOS 8 and OS X, Apple is actively working on improving the Maps app. A listing on their website says the tech giant is looking to hire a Maps Quality Analyst and Ground Truth managers to work on the field, in New York.

Apple has announced that they will include MapKit for developers in iOS 8. Anyone can take advantage of a feature that includes live maps and satellite imagery into any app.
