Apple is planning an expansion of its iPhone trade-in program to the United Kingdom, followed by other territories in Europe, according to a reliable source.

Cited by 9to5mac, this person reportedly told the site that “Apple has begun preparing training materials for its United Kingdom retail staff on the Apple Store iPhone trade-in-program and that the initiative will launch in the UK in the coming months.”

The evidence seemingly comes from training materials spotted over at some UK-based stores, with the source adding that “Apple plans to soon begin training in countries in Europe other than the UK.”

The trade-in program will be handled by BrightStar (just like in the United States), and customers who bring a working device get the value of their phone in a gift card which they can use towards the purchase of a newer iPhone model.

Phones that need to be recycled will be processed in the United Kingdom.
