Apple has emailed Internet radio providers with a request to submit cover artwork for the up and coming iTunes Radio, a music streaming service that rivals Pandora.

Apple is telling Internet Radio Providers that are seeing their content routed through iTunes Radio that "The iTunes Store now requires cover art for Internet Radio stations."

The pictures need to be 1400 x 1400 pixels in JPG or PNG format using RGB color space, while the image URL must end in the file’s extension (".jpg," ".jpeg," or ".png").

Radio stations must contact Apple with their imagery at [email protected], with a message that includes not only the artwork, but also the contact name and station name.

"Cover art should avoid pixelation. Any text should be legible at reduced image sizes on small devices. Note that Internet Radio cover art is not currently displayed," the message also states.
