A report from a prominent Chinese newspaper claims Apple could be working with Quanta Computer on a bigger version of the iPad sporting a 12-inch display.

A rough machine translation of the Chinese-language UDN report indicates that the 12-inch iPad is but a feeble rumor. However, the Apple blogosphere got excited and made it seem more than that.

The Google translation reads, “Market also reported in the supply chain to win new Apple product orders under Quanta also have the opportunity to grab iPad related OEM orders, even rumored Apple is developing a 12-inch iPad, Quanta also involved.”

Apple constantly tests multiple screen sizes with prototype hardware, so it shouldn’t come as a surprise that the Cupertino giant is playing around with screens larger than the 10-inch spec currently selling in the millions.

There are also rumors that the company is developing a big-screen TV, as well as a bigger iPhone 6. Nothing new under the sun, as they say.

For those of you left feeling empty on the inside because of this weak rumor, gaze at the Space Gray iPad 5 leak for guaranteed satisfaction.
