We've reported earlier today that the iTunes Store and several other Apple services are down for many users. The issues began on Wednesday, around 5 AM Eastern Time (ET) and it affected numerous of Apple's services, including App Store, iTunes Store, and Mac App Store.

While anyone can monitor the system status of Apple services, stores, and iCloud server, Apple issued a statement a few minutes ago apologizing for the widespread service outage. While some of the services have been restored, the most important ones are still down at the moment of writing this article.

"We apologize to our customers experiencing problems with iTunes and other services this morning. The cause was an internal DNS error at Apple. We're working to make all of the services available to customers as soon as possible, and we thank everyone for their patience," said Apple's officials for CNBC.

We will keep you guys informed on this space when all of Apple's services have been restored. Until then, we can only hope that Apple's engineers will work fast enough to restore the App Store, iTunes Store, Mac App Store, and iBooks Store services, which are currently the most important ones for users worldwide.

Update: After 12 hours, all Apple services have been restored for all users at 5:00 PM ET (Eastern Time).
