Users of Aperture 3 and / or iPhoto 11 looking to work with a Canon EOS 6D or a Nikon 1 V2 camera will be required to download and install Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update 4.03.

According to Apple, this update adds RAW image compatibility for the two cameras to Aperture 3 and iPhoto 11.

“Digital camera RAW formats retain more image information than JPEGs and can produce better results when used with imaging applications such as Aperture and iPhoto,” Apple says.

OS X Mountain Lion provides system-level support for tons of digital camera RAW formats, all of which are listed here. System requirements include OS X 10.8.2 or later and Mac OS X 10.7.5 or later.
