Apple has released Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update 4.05, adding support for various new camera models manufactured by Fujifilm.

In case you’re wondering why Apple churns out these updates on a regular basis, it’s because professional photographers use RAW digital camera formats which retain more image information than traditional JPEGs.

RAW formats produce better results when used with the likes of Aperture and iPhoto, and Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update 4.05 is here to add new RAW image compatibility for a bunch of new cameras.

Released as a free download weighing in at 6.3 MB, the update adds RAW imaging compatibility with the following cameras: Fujifilm X20, Fujifilm X100S, Fujifilm X-E1, and Fujifilm X-Pro1.

The system requirements are OS X 10.8.2 (Mountain Lion) or later, and Mac OS X 10.7.5 (Lion) or later.

The installer comes with several supported languages, including Deutsch, English, Français, Chinese, Español, Italiano, and Nederlands.
