Apple has acquired Matcha.tv, a second-screen TV startup that aggregated content from streaming video services, cable TV providers, and even digital video stores.

Serving up content from the likes of Comcast, Netlix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, Amazon, and even Apple’s own iTunes, Matcha.tv was a fledging service acting as a second-screen TV solution.

The service shut down as early as May 2013, while CEO Guy Piekarz refused to offer any details. However, Apple seemingly confirmed the acquisition this week, responding to VentureBeat with the following statement.

“Apple buys smaller technology companies from time to time, and we generally do not discuss our purpose or plans.”

The deal is said to have gone through for an estimated $1 million (€754.034) to $1.5 (€1.131.393), though an additional source tells VentureBeat that the purchase price is “definitely incorrect,” and wouldn’t provide additional details.
