If you care about your kids developing good learning, communication, and connection abilities, Apple thinks this newly-opened App Store section is the best way to get them started in life.

Serving parents as well as kids in locating the best apps for ages 5 and under, six and eight, and nine to eleven, the new section lets you “Set children loose in wondrous worlds designed especially for them. From cute puzzlers to accessible tower-defense games, our selections are perfect for a wide range of skill levels and interests,” according to Apple.

The new section actually starts with an eBook titled Family Time with Apps. Released by The Joan Ganz Cooney Center, the book is designed to point the way to apps that can support healthy development of a child through educational but also recreational apps. The guide assists parents in finding the best apps that fit their children’s needs.

Apple highlights in-app purchases where needed, making it clear where kids could accidentally spend family money. As every parent should know, iOS allows users to enable restrictions, including for in-app purchases.
