Quicksilver, the popular productivity app that puts you in control of your Mac, has finally stepped out of beta. Version 1.0.0 is live today, and we’re here to tell you all about the new stuff that’s been added.

Quicksilver learns your habits, meaning your routine tasks will become even easier to handle. In essence, it’s a launcher utility app that gives you the ability to perform common, everyday tasks more rapidly.

According to QSApp, “Quicksilver gives you quick access to all your important things. With only a few keystrokes, you can get to your applications, files, contacts, bookmarks, music, etc.”

The developers note that Quicksilver is more about doing than finding, so there’s more to the app than the shallow descriptions you’ll find on the web. We concur.

QSApp couldn’t have launched version 1.0 without some notable changes, so here’s a handful of them (the official changelog is actually much bigger):

- preliminary support for retina displays; - icons and images are no longer downscaled in the interface; - the ability to assign the same trigger to different actions in different applications; - adds files and folders to the catalog using the Add To Catalog action; - AppleScript Action enhancements (http://qsapp.com/wiki/AppleScript_Actions); - the ability to assign an alternate name to something by creating a synonym; - new localizations for Korean, Catalan, Chinese (Hant, China) and Spanish (Mexico).
