Apple equips iDevices with some of the most breathtaking wallpapers, hands down. But everyone likes to set a unique background to their handset. If you’re out of ideas, try out one of these 16 stunning images collected from imgur.com.

Created specifically for the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus, these 16 wallpapers capture the beauty of Mother Nature in her finest moments. The gallery includes images that go beyond the Earth’s atmosphere and into the far reaches of the Cosmos. Some are real, some are computer enhanced, some are renderings based on observations. But all of them are perfectly suited to work as backgrounds to an iOS Home screen.

My personal favorite is #2, a long-exposure capture of the northern lights (Aurora Borealis) falling upon a calm lake mirroring a mountain range. But I couldn’t say no to the galaxy renders, the sunsets, or the abstract works at #7 and #9 either.

If #8 looks familiar, your eyes aren’t playing tricks on you. It’s a cropped version of the Lion wallpaper (OS X 10.7) commissioned by Apple in 2010. A color-rich rendering emerged from deep-piercing telescopes, “Galaxy” makes for a jaw-dropping background on just about any device, big and small. By the way, you don’t need an iPhone 6 to grab these babies. Just visit this article on any iDevice and use a long press on any of the images to download your favorite.
